What Are The World’s Favorite Animals?

Today (July 15th, 2021) is "I Love Horses Day."  Horses are the FOURTH most popular/favorite animal in the world.  This made me wonder, "Cats and dogs are probably number one and two.. what the heck is number THREE?"  Horses by the way, are pretty amazing.  They are up and running within HOURS of being born.  Horses generally live 25-30 years and can weigh up to 1,200 pounds!  (Thanks to my neighbor, Karen, for sending me a picture of her daughter, Sophia,  doing her equestrian thang.  LOVE that pic!

According to A-Z-Aminals.com, dogs are the favorite, followed by cats.  This makes sense to me.  Dogs and cats are the two primary pet choices for domestication.  But I was  surprised by number three: CHICKENS.  Seriously?  No squirrels? Birds? Fish? Polar bears? No?  Some of these did make it into the top ten, but chickens are sitting pretty at number three.  BTW, Chicken are the most populous animal in the world.  Chickens have DOUBLE of the world population of humans.
