The Led Zeppelin documentary Becoming Led Zeppelin will get its grand premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
Per Variety, "Bernard MacMahon’s 'Becoming Led Zeppelin,' which was recently completed, will screen out of competition at the Italian fest, which runs from Sept. 1-11."
The title of the long-awaited film was revealed earlier this week. In a statement from MacMahon, he said, "'Becoming Led Zeppelin' is a film that no one thought could be made. The band’s meteoric rise to stardom was swift and virtually undocumented. Through an intense search across the globe and years of restoration of the visual and audio archive found, this story is finally able to be told."
While a wide release has yet to be confirmed, the film was first announced in May 2019. At that time, Becoming Led Zeppelin was in post-production and was slated to cover the band's early musical history in the 1960s, their initial meeting and would end with the release of Led Zeppelin II.
The documentary will feature new interviews with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones and rare archival interviews with the late John Bonham. On top of that, the doc will also contain never-before-seen archival film and photographs and state-of-the-art audio transfers of the band’s music.
