Good news: Cedar Point's HalloWeekends is back! The annual fall festival makes it return to the park on Friday (Sept. 17) and runs on selects days all the way through Halloween.

So many of my friends make HalloWeekends a part of their fall tradition. I admit that I've never attended, but hopefully one day I'll experience the scary fun.

In addition to the rides and roller coasters, Cedar Point will host more than 50 HalloWeekends attractions and activities. What's more, the HalloWeekend attractions are included with park admission. This year also offers expanded day and nighttime hours in October.

On tap this year:

HalloWeekends offers something for kids and adults. During the way, the park has activities for kids, such as the daytime Tricks and Treats Fall Fest, with activities like the Tricks and Treats Costume Contest, pumpkin decorating, trick-or-treating, hay bale and corn stalk mazes, a challenge course, themed midway games, coloring and crafts, mask making and live entertainment.

At night, creepy lights and fog make their way through the Haunt. Some evening attractions include Banished, in which "malevolent beings from the nearby wilderness seek revenge on the townsfolk who betrayed them and sent them far from civilization." Another nighttime event is the Blood on the Bayou outdoor fright zone, new this year, located on Adventure Island, offering six outdoor fright zones and five indoor haunted houses.

According to the park, Halloween costumes, masks and face paint are not allowed for guests age 13 and older.
