Detroit’s Motown Museum Getting a New Outdoor Plaza
Detroit’s Motown Museum will undergo a renovation and expansion stating later this month. The construction plans include adding a special “community center” outdoor plaza to the museum.
“The plaza is such an important part of our expansion project,” Motown Museum CEO Robin Terry said in a statement. “The last year has proven just how important these outdoor spaces are to thriving communities, and we are thrilled to create something that has been much needed in our city.”
The plaza will be designed by Hamilton Anderson & Associates and stand in front of the original Hitsville USA on West Grand Boulevard. Plans include a granite paver expanse, park benches and landscaping.
The new community center will also feature a pop-up performance stage with a sound system. The project should conclude by the summer of 2022.
