Michigan Developer’s Unique Dating App to Appear on ‘Shark Tank’
Dating can be fun, but also, not so fun. Online dating can be even more, well, adventurous. It sure helps if you know that your date has at least something in common with you. For example, what if you knew your date was a cat lover, like you, from the start?
That’s the concept behind a new dating app for cat people, called Tabby: The Cat Person’s Dating App. This app is the brainchild of two developers out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, who will be featured on ABC’s “Shark Tank” this week. Tabby will reportedly try to get funding on the show at 8 p.m. this Friday (Oct. 29), which also happens to be National Cat Day.
“Cat lovers want to cut to the chase and find someone who is compatible with their cat-forward lifestyle,” Leigh Isaacson D’Angelo, co-founder and CEO of Tabby: The Cat Person’s Dating App. “No matter what happens on Shark Tank, we’re excited to tell the world we’re not ‘kitten around.’ We’re here to help cat people find love.”
Emberly Digital, a Grand Rapids-based web and software development company founded by brothers Cameron and Collin Versluis, developed Tabby. In a statement, The Versluis brothers stated they’re “proud to have our pawprints all over (Tabby).” Cute.
Tabby is specifically for people dating who have cats or want to have cats in the future. I’m allergic to cats, so this would be a no-go for me. The app is currently available on the App Store and Google Play. Oh, and don’t worry, dog lovers. There’s an app for you, too. Tabby is a subsidiary of Dig Dates, which operates Dig: The Dog Person’s Dating App, based on the same concept.
