Police will be looking to snag more speeding drivers over the next few months. The move is due to fatalities involving speeding increasing across Michigan.

According to crash data from the MSP Criminal Justice Information Center, 1,083 people passed away from crashes on Michigan roads in 2020. That's up 10?% over 2019.

“Despite the fact there have been less miles traveled, the fatality rate rose. And crash data shows that speed may have been a factor in many of these preventable crashes,” OHSP director Michael L. Prince said in a statement.

The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning reports that traffic crashes have gone down 22% in Michigan, but fatalities are going up.

Starting Wednesday (Dec. 1) through Feb. 28, 2022, Michigan police will be cracking down on speeding drivers. So, be good!
