Remembering a Proud Part of Ironworker History
We received an email from a listener named Michelle earlier this week talking about her grandfather and telling his amazing story…
Here is the email from Michelle:
“I would like to share this amazing pic of my Uncle Steve at the very top of the Mackinaw Bridge.. He was a proud Local 700 IW having many decades of hard work up on the iron beams of bridges, hospitals, grocery stores, and we’ll, you get the idea.. He was even the President of Local 700 for 2 terms of his legendary career..We lost Uncle Steve aka “Pop’s” last night and I was wondering if you could post this on your website as he had many many friends on both sides of the border and knowing ALL the cool people listen to WCSX what a better way to honor a Legend!I know he’s cruisin the water with his son Chris and I’d like this song to go out to My Legend of an Uncle Stephen Poisson, may you fly higher than the bridge is, you are free now left your mark.. Rest easy Pop’sSpirit in The Sky is the perfect dedication for our new Angel”So much LoveMichelle the Brat
Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf!
Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
