This Beautiful Illinois Town Will Actually Pay You to Move There
If you’ve always wanted to own your own land but have never been able to snag a lot, a beautiful neighborhood in Illinois will actually pay you to move there. In fact, it appears that as long as you build a house on the land, you’ll get the land for free, so it could be a second home or “getaway” spot for you, if you want to stay in Michigan. (Check with the realtor on that one, though!)
According to Fox2News, the land is in Grafton, Illinois. It’s a beautiful city that overlooks the Mississippi River.
So, how does it work? Land lots in the Grafton Hills neighborhood are on sale for $5,000 each. If you purchase a lot, you have three years to build a house on the property. Once the house is finished, the city will reimburse you the cost of the land. The lots are about one-third of an acre each. If you don’t build a home by the end of the three-year period, the town will buy back the land for $4,000.
