Popular Michigan Restaurant Closes Permanently
It’s one thing when your favorite restaurant closes, but it’s a whole other story when there’s no warning about it. That’s happened quite a bit for me over the past two years, and it’s definitely a sore spot, because you don’t really get the chance to say goodbye to your favorite staffers. Now, a popular Michigan restaurant is shutting it’s doors, and it comes out of nowhere.
Side note: It’s another reason it’s so important to support your favorite, locally-owned restaurants right now. Even if it’s just getting takeout, they surely appreciate the business. Read on for the Michigan restaurant that just shut down.
Celebrity chef and restaurateur Michael Symon’s popular Detroit restaurant, Roast, located in the Westin Book Cadillac hotel has suddenly closed. The steakhouse had been a favorite in downtown Detroit since 2008. It launched in tandem with the grand reopening of the famed hotel. Symon is known for his appearances on the Food Network, ABC and the Cooking Channel.
If you head to the restaurant’s website, you’ll see a note that simply says, “Permanently closed,” as well as, “We are truly grateful for your business.” No further comments have been made. That’s truly heartbreaking, especially if you think of all the time and effort the owners and staff put into making the restaurant a success. The restaurant had a number of temporary shutdowns during the pandemic and reopened in July 2021. Before this announcement, the restaurant had even posted on Facebook that their famed happy hour was going to make a comeback. You’ll be missed!
