The storm of the season is in full swing, and it's pretty random, as far as who is getting hit. Some areas of the state, such as around Detroit, are getting hit, but not as hard as predicted. Meanwhile, other areas, such as Lansing, that were supposed to be on the light end of the show are getting pummeled.

A winter storm warning is still in effect for much of the state. Counties under the winter storm warning include Genesee, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Sanilac, St. Clair, Washtenaw County, Wayne, Cass, St. Joseph, Berrien, Hillsdale, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Branch, Jackson, Eaton and Ingham, among others. Most of those warnings currently run until Thursday evening.

Local cities under a snow emergency include Lansing, East Lansing, Jackson, Center Line, Chesterfield Township, Fraser, New Haven, Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Sterling Heights, Dundee, Monroe, Oakland County, Auburn Hills, Berkley, Bloomfield Township, Clawson, Farmington, Farmington Hills, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Lathrup Village, Southfield, Allen Park, Brownstown Township, Canton Township, Dearborn, Detroit, Flat Rock, Garden City, Romulus, Southgate, Taylor, Wayne, Westland and Wyandotte, among others.

One Michigan town - Flint - also broke a snow record today. According to the NWS, they got 9 inches, which beats the previous record of 8.3 inches set in 2011.

Hit up me up on social media on Facebook here and Instagram here and let me know how many inches you get!

The storm of the season is upon Michigan, and Michiganders across the state are sharing their photos of the big snow. Where I live, we weren't expected to get the brunt of the storm- but we did! I'm not a happy camper, since I can't stand snow, but I'll just keep pushing forward to spring. Check out some wild snow photos from across Michigan below!

10 Things We Love About Michigan in the Winter

Anne Erickson started her radio career shortly after graduating from Michigan State University and has worked on-air in Detroit, Flint, Toledo, Lansing and beyond. As someone who absolutely loves rock, metal and alt music, she instantly fell in love with radio and hasn’t looked back. When she’s not working, Anne makes her own music with her band, Upon Wings, and she also loves cheering on her favorite Detroit and Michigan sports teams, especially Lions and MSU football. Anne is also an award-winning journalist, and her byline has run in a variety of national publications. You can also hear her weekends on WRIF.
