Michigan Bakery Opens and Sells Out of Everything the First Day

You know a bakery is good when they sell out of everything on their first day. I'm a huge sweet lover, so when I go to a local bakery, I definitely pick up as much as possible. That said, we here in Michigan are very fortunate to have a wide range of great local bakeries to appease our treat needs.

Now, a local bakery just had its grand opening, and everything was so tasty that they sold out of everything in one day. Don't worry- they had fresh treats for the next day.

Last week marked the grand opening of Sweet Encounter Bakery & Cafe in Lansing. The bakery is extra special, because it offers completely gluten-free items, as well as some vegan items. I've had some incredible vegan treats, so that sounds like a win-win to me. They opened inside the Knapp Building in downtown Lansing. "Thank YOU for allowing us to sweeten your day!" Sweet Encounter said on Facebook. "We want to thank everyone who stopped by yesterday for our first day open in our new space. We SOLD OUT! We are humbled and speechless. We appreciate each of you and look forward to see you all again. We are so excited that you all are excited about our new space."

On top of selling baked goods, Sweet Encounter will also offer classes for children and adults. Because of the pandemic, the bakery is also giving a virtual class option for their cooking classes. Their hours in the Knapp Building are every day (except Monday and Sunday) from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., with extended hours Friday remaining open until 6 p.m.

"Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives," hosted by Guy Fieri on the Food Network, is one of the most popular shows for food lovers. There's just something super entertaining about Fieri, and the show is so fun to watch. What's extra cool is that Fieri has come to Michigan multiple times and picked local restaurants to highlight on the show.

TVFoodmaps.com has compiled a full directory of all the restaurants that have appeared on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." Think of this as a list of spots every Michigan food lover should visit. Some of these restaurants are familiar to me, like Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger, while others I are not. My parents actually live just a few miles from Zaytoon Mediterranean in Lansing, Michigan, and I had no idea they were featured on the show until now. They do have some great Miditerranean food. Which are your favorite Michigan spots that you think should be featured on the show? Reach out to me on social media and give me some recommendations!

In total, Fieri has highlights 16 different Michigan restaurants on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." What can I say- we have some great eating spots here! View the full list of Michigan restaurants featured on the show below, and make sure to visit them at some point. View the full list here.
