Detroit City FC is giving Tigers baseball fans the chance to see Detroit's soccer team for free if they had purchased tickets to the Detroit Tigers' opening day or regular season tickets.
The league canceled the first two games of the season, and to help soften the blow, DCFC will give a limited number of tickets to each home match in March and April for those ticket holders.
To get in on the fun, fans just have to show they have baseball season tickets or home opener tickets. Ticket holders can call the DCFC ticket office at 313-634-DCFC or email tickets@detcityfc.com. The matches that take place in March and April are March 19, March 26, April 2, April 5, April 15 and April 30.
Baseball fans are not very happy about the fact the MLB lockout is delaying the start of the 2022 season. Thankfully, not all baseball has been called off. My good friend Jesse Goldberg-Strassler, a Michigan sports announcer and author, posted something today that made me smile regarding the upcoming season. Read on!
The lockout
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred announced this week that the first two series of the 2022 season will not be played after talks for a collective bargaining agreement with the union went nowhere.
Will the minor leagues play without MLB baseball?
Yes. Minor league teams are making it clear that this lockout will not impact their games.
Some changes
More than a quarter of all MLB 40-man rosters are prospects, so they won’t be able to play in the minors during the lockout.
When?
The regular season of Triple-A baseball starts on April 5. The other full-season minors (Double-A and the Class A levels) starts on April 8.
