Going to the bar is a popular activity any season, but when baseball season rolls around, it seems even more popular. With so many baseball games, there are many opportunities to hit the bar before or after the game and truly enjoy the full experience.

Now, a popular Michigan bar is reopening just in time for baseball season. The establishment has been closed since January.

The Anchor Bar in Downtown Detroit is reopening on April 5 for lunch and dinner. This is a top spot for so many of my friends when they go to Tigers games. When they open, they'll have a new menu, including the Fried Chicken Sandwich (crispy breaded chicken topped with fresh lettuce and tomato, herb aioli and served with golden French fries) and Baked Mac and Cheese. Cavatappi pasta, white cheddar and fontina cheeses make the Baked Mac and Cheese option especially encircling, and it's topped with Parmesan breadcrumbs and oven-baked. But, don't worry, because the bar's classic items will be back, as well.

"The Anchor Bar has been a fixture of downtown Detroit’s dining scene for more than six decades, and we look forward to reopening and welcoming our guests again," Stephanie Prechel, general manager for The Iconic Collection, the hospitality group that owns and operates the bar, said in a statement. "The Anchor Bar is the perfect spot for people to gather and experience engaging, inspiring and real connections, great food and beverage options and personal service."

The Anchor Bar will host a Tigers Opening Day Non-Tailgate on April 8 beginning at 11 a.m., offering drink specials. For those who aren't going to the game, they'll have TVs to watch the action. The bar will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. They're hiring for salary and hourly management positions, line cooks, servers, and bartenders. For more information, go here.

Spring and summer are on the way, and that means it's vacation time. You don't need to travel far to experience an amazing vacation experience. In fact, chances are there's a great getaway just a road trip away. Here in Michigan, we have plenty of exciting beach towns and vacation-ready destinations.

Plenty of people from neighboring states and beyond actually come to Michigan to vacation in the spring and summer. I have a friend in Florida who rents a place up north for a week every summer. That said, why not take advantage of the beautiful land we have in Michigan and plan your spring getaway or summer vacation right here in the Mitten? One of my favorite things to do each summer and road trip to a new Michigan destination and take in that town's unique culture.

Read on for a list I've put together of some of Michigan's finest vacation destinations. I included 30 on this list, but of course, there are many more. The No. 1 spot, in my opinion, is Mackinac Island. If you're a Michigander and have never been to Mackinac Island, then you have some catching up to do. I remember going there as a child with my parents and grandparents and finding Petoskey stones- or at least purchasing them at a local gift shop.

If you're interested in a top 10 list, U.S. World and News Report recently put together a list of the 10 best places to visit in Michigan, which you can find here. As a Michigan native, I approve of their list, but there are far more than just 10 cities in Michigan that area prime vacation destinations.
