This isn't something you hear everyday...There has been a gator spotting in the Kalamazoo River!

River goers are being urged to stay off the Kalamazoo river until authorities can confirm and locate a 4 to 5 foot alligator that has been seen swimming in the river.

The sightings began last week and carried into the weekend, as two witnesses said they saw the gator swimming.

Here is the full story.

This is not the only Michigan gator sighting we have had though. A few years ago there were a couple of different gator sightings throughout Michigan.

Anyone remember these stories:

Right now, we do not have any video yet from the one in Kzoo, but could you imagine minding your own business on a Michigan river and look over to find a gator swimming next to you. My guess is someone owned this gator and once it got to big to keep at their house they just decided to dump it in the near by river, knowing how bad of an idea that was!

What do you do when you see a gator in Michigan? I don't think I would even know who to call, maybe you just try to make friends with it and see what happens?

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
