It's that time of year again. It's time for, well, "TIME Magazine" to release its list of "The World's Greatest Places," and this year, a Michigan hotspot is on the list.

It's a huge deal for a Michigan town to make this list, since there are only a handful of U.S. cities on it. I mean, I love Michigan, so I'm not surprised to find a Michigan spot on the tally, but to know that it's considered one of the best cities in not just the U.S. but also the world is pretty cool.

The World's Greatest Places of 2022 list features TIME's best spots to visit this year. To determine the list, TIME asked for nominations of places from their international network of correspondents and contributors, especially looking for areas offering new and exciting opportunities.

So, which U.S. cities made the cut? In the U.S., the cities that are considered the best in the world are Park City, Utah; Miami, Florida; San Francisco, California; Portland, Oregon; and - drum roll - Detroit, Michigan. I'm so happy to see Detroit gets lots of love on this list, after all this city has been through. Of the Motor City, TIME writes, "Newfound glory. Nearly 10 years after Detroit filed for bankruptcy, travelers can now play a role in the city's vibrant economic recovery by simply driving through. Detroit was recently selected as home of the USA's first electric-vehicle charging road, solidifying its title once again as the Motor City—but for the modern age."

The City of Detroit is very happy with the showing. They tweeted out, "Detroit is one of only 5 US cities to make The World’s Greatest Places of 2022 list by TIME Magazine. The world is learning what we’ve always known. To the hardworking and resilient Detroiters that make this city great, this is for you! Congrats.”

It's a wild time to buy a house. The prices seem to just keep going up and up, with no end to this housing bubble in sight. I would love to buy my first hour, but like many, I'm being forced to wait until the housing market drops a bit, and it's anybody's guess when that will happen.

If you are buying a house right now, you should make sure it's in a good place to live, since you're likely paying a pretty penny for it. Thankfully, the folks at Niche.com have done the homework to determine the best places to buy a house in Michigan. They recently released a list of the best places to live in the state, factoring in both cities, suburbs, towns and city neighborhoods.

"The Best Places to Buy a House ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the housing and community of an area," they explain the in the study. "This grade takes into account key factors of a location’s housing market, including home values, taxes, crime rates, and quality of local schools, in an attempt to measure the quality and stability of an area’s real estate market." They also look at aspects such as home value to income ratio, public schools grades, monthly housing costs, the cost of living, the higher education rate, the median home value and much more. Statistics are mainly obtained from the U.S. Census and represent the most recent data available, they state.

So, what places are the best to reside in Michigan? Read on for the top 50 list via Niche.com, and best of luck with your home buying experience.
