Aaron Rodgers Attibutes His “Best Season” to a Hallucinogen
WTH is “ayahuasca” and where have I been? Aaron Rodgers was recently on The Aubry Marcus Podcast and said that his experience with ayahuasca taught him to “unconditionally love himself” and that the experience led to “the best season of my career.” Rodgers said that on a trip to South America, he discovered ayahuasca and it’s been life-changing for him. Let’s back it up to “WTH is ‘ayahuasca?'”
WTH is “Ayahuasca?”
Ayahausca is known as a “plant teacher” in the Amazon rainforest. Ayahuasca is defined as a “tropical vine native to the Amazon region, noted for its hallucinogenic properties,” by Google. My understanding is that the bark of the ayahuasca is used to make a drink. I’ve done some research on the experience and a lot of it says it helps people heal on a spiritual level. (this does not mean I’m advocating, just relating what I read.) According to Jstor Daily, researchers are “looking into ayahuasca’s potential to help treat everything from addiction to depression to eating disorders to post-traumatic stress disorder.” For more on the experience, benefits, and side effects, you can read what Healthline says HERE.
Is Ayahuasca Legal in Michigan?
Good question. In September 2020, “Ann Arbor decriminalized all ‘entheogenic’ plants, including the natural materials used to produce ayahuasca.” This is NOT the same thing as legal. Ayahuasca has been fully legal in Brazil since 1992.
Back to Aaron Rodgers
With Aaron’s admission to using this drug, does it affect his position in the NFL? During the recent podcast, Aaron Rodgers said that the ayahuasca had changed his life on and off the field AND that he didn’t think it was a coincidence that he won MVP back-to-back after he found this hallucinogenic. Will NFL announcers ignore this part of Aaron’s story or explain ayahuasca to millions of viewers? That should be fun to watch. I don’t see that conversation being a bit comfortable. Let’s keep this blog between you and me while I book our tickets to Brazil. 🙂
