Flying On The Giant Slide At Belle Isle

A lot of people were excited for the new massive slide on Belle Isle. Unfortunately after a few runs late last week it shut down because it was literally sending people flying! But don't worry, the slide is back open!

The video will make you laugh and cringe at the same time! The Belle Isle slide seemed like a great idea and attraction for the island, but after a few runs over the weekend it was clear there needed to be some adjustments.

The slide was one the island once before but was closed in 1994. It was reopened for a total of 4 hours before getting shut down again for safety reasons.

Here are a few of the videos, everyone was okay but damn did they go flying!

Jalan Rose a Detroit native, talked about the slide and seeing the videos of people flying. He said this is how it's always been!

According to the park, the slide was rubbed down a bit and will have water sprayed on it to help slow down the riders speed.

The slide will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the next two weeks from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Giant Slide Rides only cost $1.

Slide riders must also be 48 inches tall or taller.

After seeing all of these videos, it's safe to say that I will allow a few more people to go down before I do.

I do have a question though, if they are going to put water on the slide to slow it down, won't my butt just be getting wet now?
