A juicy burger

It's always a good thing when a homegrown, Michigan brand expands and opens new locations across the state. The world has a ton of national chains, which can be tasty, but there's something special about a Michigan chain that is gaining steam and spreading its wings across the Mitten.

Now, a Michigan favorite has announced it will soon open a new location in the state. This spot is known for its delicious halal burgers, chicken wings and hot dogs. All of those items, of course, are favorites in the Great Lakes State. Hungry yet?

That spot is Taystee’s Burgers, which is planning to open in September or early October in Ann Arbor. The restaurant will be located at 2689 Ann Arbor-Saline Road. Taystee's Burgers also has restaurant locations in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights, so this marks the company's first expansion outside the metro Detroit area. The restaurant prides itself on giving customers an "amazing" burger experience/ "We’ve got the food that looks good, tastes good, and downright is good, with fresh-never-frozen ingredients and 100% halal meats sourced fresh daily," they state on their official website.

As for some backstory on Taystee's, according to the restaurant's website, "In November 2014, Taystee's Burgers sprouted its first location inside a gas station in Dearborn, MI, just outside the city of Detroit. Serving halal versions of classic, tasty American food caught on fast. Within no time, word spread about the hand-cut fries and creative signature burgers—most notably, 'Ali's Notch-Yo-Burger.' Taystee’s Burgers has since acquired a large, loyal customer base and even more locations: Dearborn Heights in October 2019, and Ann Arbor in September 2022. Founder Ali Jawad plans to continue expanding Taystee’s, opening new locations throughout the metro Detroit area!" For more information on Taystee's, go here. "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives," hosted by Guy Fieri on the Food Network, is one of the most popular shows for food lovers. There's just something super entertaining about Fieri, and the show is so fun to watch. What's extra cool is that Fieri has come to Michigan multiple times and picked local restaurants to highlight on the show.

TVFoodmaps.com has compiled a full directory of all the restaurants that have appeared on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." Think of this as a list of spots every Michigan food lover should visit. Some of these restaurants are familiar to me, like Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger, while others I are not. My parents actually live just a few miles from Zaytoon Mediterranean in Lansing, Michigan, and I had no idea they were featured on the show until now. They do have some great Miditerranean food. Which are your favorite Michigan spots that you think should be featured on the show? Reach out to me on social media and give me some recommendations!

In total, Fieri has highlights 16 different Michigan restaurants on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." What can I say- we have some great eating spots here! View the full list of Michigan restaurants featured on the show below, and make sure to visit them at some point. View the full list here.
