The world has been watching the Detroit Lions gear up for their next season on HBO's "Hard Knocks." It's really give the team the national spotlight, and I feel like America is now rooting for the underdogs.

But, the real question is, "Is Matthew Stafford watching 'Hard Knocks?'" As it turns out, we have an answer.

Local 4's Hank Winchester caught up with Stafford to talk about "Hard Knocks" and if he's peeping the show. So, has he been watching?

“I have,” Stafford said. “I haven’t seen them in perfect chronological order as they’ve come out, but I’ve peeked and I have so many good friends who are still on that team.” He added, “I’m keeping up. “I’m watching it. I got a chance as I was leaving (Detroit) to talk to Dan Campbell and was really impressed, and then you see him on the ‘Hard Knocks’ show and you go, ‘Man, if you’re a player, you’ve got to love playing for that guy.’ He seems like a really authentic person that I think plays really strongly into the culture of Detroit, and I think people will really enjoy it.”

Stafford also said that when the L.A. Rams played Detroit last season, it was actually a really tough game. “We played Detroit last year," he said. "It was one of the toughest games of our season. They were a tough out, so I think they’re going to continue to get better, and they’ve got a lot of talent and a guy leading the way that they all believe in.” Time will tell if all the buzz surrounding "Hard Knocks" will transfer into a winning season for the Lions. But, I have a good feeling about it. Of course, I always do, so who knows if this year will be any different.
