Michigan: Fall Weather Predictions Are Here

Fall is almost here, and that means cooler temperatures are on the way in Michigan. Of course, if you're a fan of big, snuggly hoodies, hot cider and pumpkin everything, the cooler temperatures are a welcomed thing. If you would rather spend the afternoon basking in the sun at a Michigan beach, like me, then you're not so happy about the change of weather. So, what should Michiganders expect from the autumn months?

AccuWeather has come out with their fall 2022 predictions. Most of the Midwest is on target to get warmer temperatures to kick off fall, but what about Michigan?

According to AccuWeather, Michigan will get pretty much normal temperatures throughout September. There are a few surprises, though. The southwest areas of the state are expected to experience slightly higher temperatures. Other areas in the northern section of the state are even projected to get slightly lower temperatures through the meteorological fall, which ends on Nov. 30. Even so, those earlier cool temperatures aren't expected to be so extreme to interrupt crops or Michigan's cider mill action.

Colder air is expected to come down from Canada across the northern and central parts of Michigan, according to AccuWeather, by mid-September. That's almost here. That's a bit earlier than usual.

Across the U.S., AccuWeather says temperatures, overall, will be on the warm side. "With pretty good confidence this year, I think it's a mild fall setting up overall for the U.S.," AccuWeather's Paul Pastelok said. Looking at the other side of the U.S., major drought is expected to make the upcoming season a very active one for wildfires. The fires are expected to pop up in different areas than they did in 2021.
