Chicago Bears’ Trenton Gill Gets a 15-Yard Penalty for Using a Towel to Dry the Field
Chicago Bears punter Trenton Gill cost his team a 15-yard penalty Sunday (Sept. 11) when the team was up against the San Francisco 49ers because of a crazy and rare rule.
Soldier Field was flooded with rain, so Gill brought a towel onto the field to dry the area for his kicker, Cairo Santos. But, somewhere in the rulebook, there’s mention of this situation and says it will result in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Yikes!
