It's the Great Pumpkin, Waterford.

For Frank it all started as a hobby during the first year of Covid. Since then he has turned it into a full-blown passion, and now he is going for the national record!

Late last week, Frank had the news and other folks out to his farm in Waterford as they got ready to weigh the massive pumpkin.

He also had the company Adlers Service Inc. out to help lift the massive pumpkin. "I've lifted many things, not a pumpkin. This will be a first," laughed Jim Reed. An employee of Alders Service.

Now there was a risk that the giant pumpkin would fall apart as soon as they lifted up. Luckily, it stayed intact and after being lifted in the air it weighed in at 2,350 pounds.

Frank was disappointed that he did not get the national record but he did say the state record will do for now!  The previous state record was 2,118 pounds, the U.S. record at 2,528 and the world record is at a whopping 2,702.

"Well it's a state record, hopefully ... I thought it would be a little bigger," laughed Frank when all was said and done.

Frank was happy with the weight and will take it to Ohio for a huge pumpkin competition. There he is looking to break the state record for Ohio.

Frank's ultimate goal is to get the US record and said he will continue to give it a try every year!  Get the full story from Channel 7 News.

John Rios and his rock n roll pumpkins

John Rios and his rock n roll pumpkins

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
