Michigan Ranked One of the Best States to Visit This Fall
Autumn is a beautiful season, especially in Michigan. We have colorful leaves, pumpkin-spice goodies, cider mills, donuts, Mastodon band hoodies (okay, maybe that’s just me) and more. I personally love visiting a good, old fashioned cider mill this time of year. Whether it’s to get some pumpkins or snack on sugar-covered donuts, cider mills in the fall are the best. I’m a country girl at heart. Anyway, when it comes to autumn, as it turns out, one study states Michigan is one of the best states to visit in the fall this year.
Lawnstarter.com has a new study out named the best states in the U.S. to travel to during the autumn months. “Cooler weather, changing leaves, and pumpkin-flavored treats — fall has arrived,” the publication states.
As for methodology, “To help you find the perfect destination, LawnStarter compared the 50 states based on 20 key indicators of a breathtaking and fun fall trip.” They used factors such as “outdoor access, such as the number of state parks and hiking trails, as well as fall-themed amusements like pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and hayrides. Of course, we also considered how long fall foliage will stick around for those Insta-worthy snaps.”
Before we get into Michigan, note that the No. 1 state to visit this fall is California. I can only imagine wine country in the fall, with its colorful splashes of vibrancy all around. So, I do think that’s a good pick. Michigan comes in at No. 4 on the list, with a total score of 49.57. “As expected, Northern states dominate the top of our ranking — from Washington (No. 2), across Michigan (No. 4), all the way to New York (No. 6),” Lawnstarter.com states. “After all, colorful leaves, chillier temperatures, and fire-roasted foods are the qualities that make the fall season a truly unique experience. America’s upper latitudes deliver on all of them.” Find the full list of the best states to visit this fall here.
