Halloween is on the way, and Michigan peeps love to watch scary movies this time of year. So, who is the top horror villain in all of Michigan?
GetWindstream has put together a study of the top searched horror movie villains in each state. "It's that time of year again!" they state in the study. "The leaves are changing, pumpkin spice is back, and all your favorite horror movie villains are making a return. To celebrate the return of fall, we're picking up where we left off with last year’s list of the most searched horror movie villains by state. Our 2022 list includes horror classics like American Psycho, Psycho, and Halloween and even features Jordan Peele’s 2021 version of Candyman."
They added, "Horror fans' Google search histories prove many people are drawn to what they fear. With this on our minds, the team at GetWindstream found each state’s most searched horror villain using our freaky fast Gig internet. Keep reading to see which villain led the reign of terror in your state."
GetWindstream's list features the 20 most popular horror movie villains according to data compiled from Ranker and Screenrant. They then found each villain's search volume in Semrush and put the 10 most-searched villains into Google Trends to see which was searched the most by each state in the past year.
So, who's most popular in Michigan? Jason Voorhees. Good choice, Michiganders. He's a common pick for many Midwestern states. The American Psycho himself, Patrick Bateman, was the most searched villain, winning the top spot in 19 states. If you are a Pennywise fan, note that Maine and Utah were the only two states that searched for Pennywise the most. Find the full list here.
It's spring, and today it actually feels like it across much of Michigan. Of course, this is Michigan, which means at any given moment we could be graced with snow and ice, even mid-spring. But, right now, warm weather and ice cream are on the mind.
I simply love ice cream. It's probably my favorite food. The more chocolaty and decadent and cookie dough-laced, the better. Here in Michigan, we have an array of incredible ice cream shops, some that are open seasonally and others year-round. There's lots of ice cream to go around, whether you prefer soft-serve (not for me) or regular.
Pure Michigan has put together a list of the best ice cream shops in Michigan. If anybody knows their Mitten ice cream, it's Pure Michigan, since they handle all the touristy stuff around the state. Read on for the full list. The Pure Michigan crew was able to hit most areas of the state, including the U.P, so there are a broad range of ice cream shops on the list. I actually hope to hit all of them at some point, but that might be too unrealistic a goal!
I actually added my own picks to make this list 20, since some of the Pure Michigan picks have sadly closed. My main pick was the MSU Dairy Store on the campus of Michigan State University. If you're ever in East Lansing, it's really something you have to experience. They make all of their own ice cream, and since MSU is an agricultural college, you know it's some of the best-tasting stuff around. I also included Quality Dairy, which is known for its fantastic ice cream around mid-Michigan.
