1. Thelma and Louise
Thelma and Louise is a 1991 road trip movie starring Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis as two friends who embark on a cross-country road trip. The movie was a critical and commercial success, earning six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.

2. National Lampoon's Vacation
National Lampoon's Vacation is a 1983 movie starring Chevy Chase as the patriarch of the Griswold family, who go on a cross-country road trip to California. The movie was a huge hit, spawning several sequels and becoming an iconic part of American pop culture.

3. Little Miss Sunshine
Little Miss Sunshine is a 2006 movie about a dysfunctional family who take a road trip from New Mexico to California in order to support their young daughter who has been invited to compete in the "Little Miss Sunshine" pageant. The movie was a critical and commercial success, winning two Academy Awards.

4. Rain Man
Rain Man is a 1988 movie starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise as two estranged brothers who embark on a cross-country road trip. The movie was a critical and commercial success, winning four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

5. Sideways
Sideways is a 2004 movie about two friends (played by Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church) who take a week-long road trip through California's wine country. The movie was a critical and commercial success, earning five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.
