”Hell no. It’s a s--- existence – selling yourself and your soul."

In case you needed another reason to think that Jon Bon Jovi is one of the cooler dudes on the planet… SURPRISE!  Jon Bon Jovi is at your Chili Cook-Off.

Jon Bon Jovi made an unscheduled appearance at the 7th Annual Chili Cook-Off in  Toms River, NJ recently.  The cook-off is sponsored by Jon’s JBJ Soul Kitchen charity.  A dozen teams were facing off for the grand prize. The teams were made up of first responders.  Jon tried EVERY SINGLE CHILI.  He was later seen doing dishes inside the Soul Kitchen.

The JBJ Soul Kitchen charity’s front page reads “Community Dining with Dignity – All are welcome at our table where locally-sourced ingredients, dignity, and respect are always on the menu.”

There was no advance mention of Jon showing up at the event, but according to tomsriveronline.com, people started arriving at 9 am… just in case.  The Chili Cook-Off ran from 1-4 pm.  People traveled from as far as Brazil to be at the event.

How cool is Jon Bon Jovi?  The personal support and ownership that he takes with his charity is really amazing.  I love the statement for Soul Kitchen too.  It’s so nice when rock stars seem to be down-to-earth people with a sense of community.
