Today (Jan 25th) is the birthday of our very own Ernie Harwell. For so many of us, his was a voice of comfort – the sound of being home. Hot dogs and beer at Tiger stadium on a warm summer day. Ernie was a treasure who’ll never be forgotten:

There was that moment in 1990 when the Tigers made a REALLY bad move and fired Ernie – Bill Bonds was having NONE of it. One of the greatest openings to a newscast ever.

And talking about Ernie wouldn’t be complete without “The Voice of The Turtle”
