Forbes always tallies up its annual list of the richest people in the U.S., and each year, several Michigan residents are on the list. The latest list, which features the 400 wealthiest people living in America, features everyone from investors to real estate executives to tech company owners. The billionaires range in age from their 20s to their 90s, so it’s a broad range.
The richest person in America, according to the report, is Elon Musk, known for his work with Tesla and SpaceX. He has a net worth of $251 billion. Coming in at No. 2 is Jeff Bezos, known for heading up Amazon. Others who made the top 10 are Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Oracle’s Larry Ellison, Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett, Google’s Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer, Bloomberg LP’s Michael Bloomberg, and Walmart’s Jim Walton. As for the most billionaires, with a total of 80 billionaires, California had the most residents on the list.
So, who is the richest person in Michigan? Dan Gilbert, who is always on the list. Gilbert of Quicken Loans is No. 40 on the latest Forbes tally.
