Okland County Castle Feature 2

Oakland County Castle for Sale

You could have your own castle with hidden rooms, a dungeon, a drawbridge, and a moat for 2.5 million in Oakland County! According to Freep.com, this Oakland County castle is for sale near Rochester at the end of Deer Creek Estates.

At first, I thought this would be some kind of modern joke of a build, but the nerd in me wants this castle so badly! It is amazing! I don't know if there is some secretly hidden homeowner nightmare lurking inside, but from the pictures, it looks great.

The castle was built in 1990 by the late James LeBlanc who promised his wife he would build her a castle! Talk about romantic! Who wants to buy their other half a castle? Well, you can now! My wife gets a Build-Bear ET and that's all I can do.

Leblanc passed in May at 72. He was an engineer and built the home with a variety of techniques. Over 60 tons of steel and over 10 million dollars were put into the construction of the home.

And a DUNGEON!

After crossing an actual drawbridge you'll be able to access the home at the 762-pound oak door. The drawbridge is the only way to access the home as there is a MOAT surrounding the home. Lablanc spared no expense for the effects.

Once inside you are greeted with a delightful living room and entry that looks like a wedding hall rental. Complete with pillars and an armored knight.

But here's where it gets really fun. There is a library with hidden doors, mirrored walls, and a dungeon! There's an underground grotto with cave-like walls over a jacuzzi. A four-car garage with London-themed and sculpted walls.

>My nerdy heart would love to buy this and make this into the ultimate gaming nerd paradise. Even my friends have suggested we go in as a group and purchase it. The Dungeon and Dragon games that would be had! Even Joe Manganiello would be jealous (yeah that big sexy dude is REALLY into Dungeons and Dragons too!).

2.5 million is a lot of money, but for what it cost to make and what you are getting, that's a steal! If you got the money! But I got to buy eggs too!

Even the realtors are having fun in this house/castle:

If you can't get this castle, maybe you could find more affordable housing here:

Michigan Has a Top City for Finding an Affordable Home in 2023

The housing market is finally coming down, largely because of high interest rates, but regardless of the reason, home prices are becoming more affordable. As it turns out, Michigan has one of the best cities for finding an affordable home in 2023.

According to BusinessInsider.com, "Despite the record high sale prices and equally steep mortgage rates in 2022, there are still some cities in the United States where the average earner can afford a home."

They add, "By scraping economic and housing data to predict the growth of home prices and sales in 100 of biggest US metros, Realtor.com ranked the top places where people can still buy an affordable home in 2023. According to their methodology, this year's homebuyers can expect reasonable deals in cities like Hartford, Connecticut and El Paso, Texas, both of which avoided much of the intense buyer competition and rapid home price growth seen in other parts of the country during the pandemic. At a time where the typical home is priced near $400,000, a good indicator of a housing market's health is the balance between home sales and price growth."

So, which U.S. cities have the best bang for your housing buck? Read the full list below, including the Michigan city. Even outside of Michigan, there were some cities within driving distance with some housing deals. Find the full tally here.

Hot Scott, aka Scotty, when not wrangling his chihuahua he's writing, painting, and playing games. Loves Dungeon and Dragons, comics, and everything nerdy and geeky. He has an uncontrollable beard and has been known to wear a kilt on the right occasion. Might be a robot, we are checking on that. Send oil.
