HopCat is officially open in downtown Royal Oak after more than two years away.

The restaurant's previous Royal Oak location closed in 2020. Now, it's back, and its new location is close from its original place on Fifth Avenue in downtown Royal Oak.

While Royal Oak's HopCat soft opening happened earlier this week, a a public grand opening will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 11. The first 100 guests in line will score free Cosmik Fries for a year, HopCat swag and other goodies. Lunch and dinner dine-in guests also will snag complimentary Cosmik Fries and other swag while supplies last.

In addition to Royal Oak, a new Livonia location is being planned for this summer, according to Crain's Detroit. The Livonia location will be on Haggerty Road near Schoolcraft College.
