Detroit Is Getting A Sweet Village Called Choco Town

Want to experience the closest thing to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory? Then come on down to Choco Town at the Oakland Mall! An immersive candy experience running from March 16th to April 23rd.

This is a very interactive “show” where actors take you through the event. Almost like a house of horrors, but replace the horrors with delicious chocolate and candy.

The tour is an hour-long trip from various stations. Some of the stations. From multiple videos and reviews, stations like the “Chocolate Mechanic”, “The Bon Bon Boulevard”, and “Gummy Bear Hug Therapy”, to name a few.

Many of the areas are perfect for photo ops and are visually appealing. You’re handed a map as you explore and an evaluation to determine what kind of chocolate person you are.

The Choco Town Experience

The whole candy adventure last from about 60 minutes to 90 minutes. They are open on Thursdays: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Fridays: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., Saturdays: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sundays: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 a piece and you can get them here.

So far reviews are pretty high with Google reviews at 5 stars and Feverup.com giving it a 4.2 out of 5 with 113 reviews so far.

I’m a big fan of chocolate, and my son loves candy (and my wife does too), so we might go check this out. $75 is quite a bit (for three, but they have group rates too), but it might be a fun thing to do for a weekend.

Is Candy Corn Michigan's Favorite Candy?

35 million pounds sold! Someone must like them.

Candy Corn is not Michigan’s favorite, but it is in second place! So leave Candy Corn alone, all you Candy Corn haters! According to candystore.com Michigan’s favorite candy, as of 2022 is Starburst. We purchased 108,928 pounds of Starburst. That’s 50 tons of Starburst!
Some facts about Halloween this year:
  • Estimated spending on candy this year is about 3.1 billion.
  • We will spend an average of $27.55 on candy per household.
  • Halloween spending overall is expected to be over 10 billion
  • About 30% of purchases for Halloween will be made online.

I moved to an apartment when I was younger where no trick or treating happened. Then I moved to townhouses…where again, no trick or treating happened. So finally I purchased a home, in a regular neighbourhood and thought, “This time, there WILL BE TRICK OR TREATING!”. But, alas, there’s a rich neighbourhood right next to us that has townhouses right next to each other and the kids go there. Well, mostly, now we do have SOME kids coming to our door. What’s the point of having all these animatronic monsters if I can’t show them off at Halloween? Oh yeah, I put them in my room to scare my own kids! 😉

Hot Scott, aka Scotty, when not wrangling his chihuahua he's writing, painting, and playing games. Loves Dungeon and Dragons, comics, and everything nerdy and geeky. He has an uncontrollable beard and has been known to wear a kilt on the right occasion. Might be a robot, we are checking on that. Send oil.
