My son was watching and learning from Ms. Rachel yesterday when the song "Bingo" came on. That song began an argument between my wife and I that I never thought we would have...
So he is what we started arguing about, in the song "Bingo" is Bingo the name of the dog or the farmer? I took it to our Facebook page to get everyone's thoughts on the subject and man, it didn't disappoint.
First let me give my thoughts on this. I think the famers name is Bingo, when you look at the lyrics you clearly see they never refer to the dog specifically as Bingo.

B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O
And Bingo was his name-o!
There was a farmer, had a dog

Now it says, There was a farmer, had a dog, Bingo was his name-o. When they say that, it does not clearly tell you who Bingo is, but lets break it down. Bingo is the farmers name in my mind because they tell you he had a dog, but then are telling you that bingo is his name. So in my mind they are referring the the farmer not the dog.
Ultimately I think it comes down to how you interpret that first line.
JOHN: Dog's name was Bingo. "There was a farmer, who had a dog and Bing-o was his name-o. At least that's how I remember it
REBECCA: Great!! More things to ponder for no reason whatsoever I'm going with the dog, maybe.
TOM: If you get the actual answer, try to get this one... Where did is say in the Humpty Dumpty one, did it ever say that Humpty was an egg??
JOHN: Yes Ryan the dog's name was bingo, in the words of the famous Jeff foxworthy you're not smarter than a 5th grader.
Those are just a few of the comments, many people say that Bingo is the dog's name but I am not buying it. I will stand by the fact that they never actually tell you who Bingo is!
