Can It Be True A Real Honest And True Payphone Really Exists
It's like seeing and old friend you have not seen in years! This might be the last working pay phone in North America- and it's by the food court in Oakland Mall!
Nowadays, it’s easier to find Waldo than it would be to find a working real Payphone. It seems technology and the times have made the Payphone obsolete.
When you find a Payphone, you tend to have a double take and memories flood your mind. There was always one at the local roller rink when you had to call the folks to pick you up. It seemed every 7-11 store had one out front. My band CHIT! played in one of my favorite bars, Augies, which had one in the bathroom next to the sink. I remember folklore of strange stories of some substance on the receiver and the touch tones that would possibly kill you. The cleanliness of the Payphone was always in question- wiping it down or holding the receiver with a tissue so you wouldn’t catch anything.
There was always a Payphone at school by the front door. Airports had rows and rows at one time. Everyone had that one friend who had one in their home. And not that you ever wondered, there are still Payphones in prisons. How many are left?
Check out this website to get an accurate number – well, as close as it can be, anyway – of remaining phone booths in Michigan can check this website. It won’t be long until Payphone will be but a memory. It seems like yesterday, the effort of finding enough change or the operator interrupting and asking for more money.
The Top 4 Traumatizing Banned Kids Toys From Childhood
Thinking back you would not believe some of the toys we played with in childhood were so dangerous. Parents can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that safety standards for children’s toys have improved since these catastrophes hit the shelves. If you look hard enough you can still get some of these toys on Facebook marketplace, eBay, or at a lucky garage sale.
Lots are banned like baby cribs, baby car seats, and swings because of the risk of harm to a child. Toys on the other hand it was hit or miss growing up. Parents took their chances with some of the toys we grew up with. Mom was always close with a squeeze bottle of Bactine, a cleansing spray & liquid that takes the “ouch” out of cuts, scrapes, and minor burns and kills 99.9% of germs* at the same time. The formula is different now… it really stung back in the day.
The problem with kids back then and kids now is we never played with toys the way they were intended. Never read the directions on the warning labels because the toys didn’t have them on most of the games. Never knew little Timmy would get hit in the head with Lawn Darts in the foot or head. Just thought it would be fun to see how high you could throw one.
