The NFL is Getting a Black Friday Game – Here’s Who’s Rumored to Play
The NFL is getting ready to release its upcoming schedule, and one thing is for sure: We’re getting a Black Friday game.
I’m all for it. By the afternoon on Black Friday, I’m ready to stop shopping (even if it’s just online) and watch some good football.
A new rumor is making the rounds suggesting the Philadelphia Eagles could hit the road to play the New York Giants in the NFL’s first-ever Black Friday game. NFL fans are waiting and waiting for the new NFL schedule, but the good news is that it’s coming soon. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL will announce its 2023 schedule on May 11.
We already know that this year, the league will schedule a game on Black Friday, taking place 3 p.m. ET on Nov. 24 with coverage on Amazon Prime Video. Peter King of Football Morning of America says the Philadelphia Eagles may be at that game. What’s more, the rumor is that the Eagles will play division rival the New York Giants. According to King, that Eagles-Giants is “the leader in the clubhouse.” In other words, it’s a strong possibility that this rumor will pan out.
“I think, with the schedule due to be announced the second week of May—in other words, next week—this is the column, maybe nine or 10 days out, when I usually have a good feeling about some of the tentpole games,” King said. “This year, I have no gut feeling about any of them, except maybe the Black Friday game. The first game ever on Friday afternoon after Thanksgiving is a very big deal for Amazon on the biggest shopping day of the year. I think the leader in the clubhouse for that game is Eagles-Giants. Absolutely not set in stone, though.”
