Get Ready For Motor City Pride: What’s In Store This Year
The Motor City Pride 2023 festival lineup has been revealed. The annual LGBTQ pride festival will take place on June 10 and 11 at Hart Plaza in Detroit. After commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first pride march last year, this time they’re all about looking forward and embracing the future. A number of breakthrough and up-and-coming LGBTQ+ artists who will be taking the stage.
Who’s Performing?
This year, Motor City Pride will feature several artists, such as JORDY, a trending GLAAD Award Breakthrough Artist 2023 Nominee, and Siena Liggins, a local-gone-national star from Detroit Institute of Musical Education (DIME)/Assemble Sound. Also, making an appearance is Jasmine Kennedie from Season 14 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Robin Fierce from Season 15. Plus, The Robyn Party, a renowned underground dance party straight from the streets of New York City.
There will be a diverse range of performances, including bands, singers, and drag shows. With over 140 vendors in attendance, you’ll have the chance to explore a wide array of merchandise and discover the fantastic services they offer to the LGBTQ+ community.
In addition to the four stages of entertainment, they will also provide attendees with a way to connect with others in the community. This includes non-profit organizations, companies, and individuals selling items to attendees.
What’s New To The Event This Year?
Dave Wait, a chairperson for Motor City Pride said that they are highlighting their drag and trans community to show that Michigan is a welcoming place for all individuals.
If you’re looking to support the LGBTQIA+ community, one way could be attending this event. “To support each other, one of the best ways is to attend the Parade on Sunday, June 11, 2023. The large number of attendees shows others how many people support all members of the LGBTQIA+ community,” Wait said.
The festival kicks off at p.m. with a lineup of entertainment scheduled throughout the day. There’s a special family area open from 2 pm to 5 pm. The day’s grand finale will be the last act taking the stage at 8 pm.
On Sunday, get ready for the parade, which starts at Griswold and Fort Streets at noon. After the parade, the festival gates swing open at 12:30 pm, and you’ll have a whole afternoon of festivities ahead. Many performances are happening throughout the day with the last performance wrapping up at 6 pm.
