Sounds of the 80’s – Volume Up!
What a rush of memories. Take a minute (actually less than a minute) and see how many you can recognize with your eyes closed.

Got me thinking about growing up in the 80’s (it’s always fun to explain these things to Ryan on air…he looks at me like I’ve got a hole in my head…lol).
Started jotting down memories of growing up in the 80’s:
- The Arcade: we had a great arcade by my house and I remember when my dad would get home he’d always take a shower and relax before dinner – hanging his pants on the doorknob in their bedroom. I soon realized he ALWAYS had change from work…so I’d ask him if I could get a quarter out, he’d say yes and then I’d take them all. Hello arcade. There was this tabletop football game with X’s and O’s on it for players…and you used a trackball to move everyone. That was our jam. We’d line the side of the table with quarters (that’s how reserved a spot – I still remember when Dragon’s Lair came out and the entire top of the machine was covered in quarters). Now if I only had a couple of dollars and wasn’t in a hurry, I’d play Galaga (I’m probably one of the five greatest Galaga players in Detroit…just saying).
- Laser Disc: My dad NEVER bought new technology. He thought my Mattel Intellivision was just weird. But I remember the day he came home with an RCA laser disc machine (watch promo below…it was just a GIANT DVD). Dad was so proud – we hooked it up to the cabinet TV (yeah we still had one) and then proceeded to watch the same movies over and over – because NO ONE had laser discs for rent! The only place we found was a 20 minute drive…and they only had 10 movies. I remember watching a lot of Goldie Hawn movies on laser disc, and maybe Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
