Big Jim’s Grandma’s Poppy Seed Cake Recipe
My Grandma was the glue that held our family together – we’d come from all over the country to see her and Aunt Mary – and one of the things that she always had out was poppy seed cake. My cousin Karen had the recipe made into a kitchen towel for the family…and I thought this would be a good thing to share with you (because we’re all family, right?)
Since we’re talking about my Grandma – we also found some pictures from a family scrapbook. The first one is from Chicago where Grandma Lucille raised five boys and two girls on her own (that’s my dad in the middle…can you see the resemblance?)
This is the picture that Ryan laughs about – we had one phone in the house, it was in the dining room by the window. This is where Grandma sat to take calls. Back then the big decision was to decide what color the phone would be (I remember when they switched to green – it was a big deal). I miss you Grandma.
