Michigan Restaurant Is Among The Best For Pancakes In The Country
In anticipation of National Pancake Day coming up on September 26, we will spotlight one of the most popular breakfast dishes in the country. Travel and Leisure recently named the 25 best pancake restaurants in America, and a Michigan establishment was named among them.
“Really, there are no rules when it comes to flapjacks — Pancake Day can happen any time you’re craving a short stack topped with butter and maple syrup,” Travel and Leisure explains. In fact, pancakes are not just for breakfast anymore. All types of restaurants or diners serve them for any meal. Furthermore, if you really want to see your kids’ face light up with excitement, tell them you are making breakfast for dinner.
Travel and Leisure did not consider fast food chains when making their list. While McDonald’s hotcakes are also delicious, and IHOP still serves perhaps the most distinguished-tasting plate pancakes in the world, the list focuses on more local establishments.
In Michigan, the restaurant recognized for having the best pancakes also prides itself on its daily freshly squeezed orange juice.
Downtown Café – Rochester
Located at 606 N. Main Street, Downtown Café is open seven days per week. However, as a breakfast and lunch restaurant, it closes early (3 pm Monday – Saturday, 2 pm on Sunday).
Under the specialty portion of the menu, Downtown Café serves traditional buttermilk pancakes and a German apple variation. In addition, there are daily specials that also feature unique pancake options. For example, there is currently a Wild Berry Pancake dish, which is topped with blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. Then they are covered in raspberry and vanilla sauce. Then, there is also the “Michigan Pancakes.” These come with sun-dried cherries, apples, and walnuts.
The fun does not stop there. Just because you are enjoying pancakes from this Michigan restaurant recognized for having some of the best, doesn’t mean you can’t try their other items. All options are served with bacon, ham, fresh fruit, sausage, or Canadian bacon.
