Big Jim tries infrared sauna treatment

Big Jim took over Ryan Remedies to give Perspire Sauna Studio in Rochester a try

Time for another Ryan's Remedies, this one looks a little different though as Big Jim took the page over to give Perspire Sauna Studio in Rochester a shot. Let's see how it went.

I think all of my time talking about alternative healing is making an impact on Big Jim. This week Big Jim asked if he could hijack the Ryan's Remedies page to try out a new breakthrough in sauna treatment. I said 100 percent yes! So Big Jim, headed over to Perspire Sauna Studio in Rochester to give this new technology a try.

Now the difference between a regular traditionally sauna and an infrared sauna is pretty simple. A regular sauna heats the air around your body, where as an infrared sauna heats your body from the inside out. Besides some more advance benefits, the infrared is a much better option for those who have trouble breathing in a regular sauna.

Here is Big Jim taking a look at the sauna and giving you his thoughts before and after the experience:

Want to watch the video later? Here was what Big Jim had to say:

" Hi,  it's  Big  Jim.  So  I  went  to  Perspire  Sauna  Studio  in  Rochester.  This  infrared  sauna  that  I've  been  reading  about,  and  I  figure  Ryan's  remedy  has  kind  of  inspired  me.  I'll  give  you  my  review,

but  first  I  want  Stephanie  to  introduce  it  to  you.  Hi,  Stephanie.  Say  hi  to  everybody.  Hello.  Okay,  so  here  we  are  at  Perspire  Sauna  Studio  in  Rochester.  Now  this  is  the  infrared  sauna.  I'm  showing  everyone.
Kind  of  walk  us  through  this.  Yeah,  so  this  is  an  infrared  sauna  custom  designed  for  us  by  Clearlight,  and  Clearlight  makes  these  with  full  glass  front,  so  there's  no  claustrophobic  feeling.  We  also  have  a  big  screen  TV  on  the  wall  for  you  to  enjoy  during  your  sauna  session.
Gotta  like  that.  So  I'm  going  to  give  you  a  little  bit  of  details  about  the  sauna  itself.  Okay.  The  infrared  technology  comes  from  these  black  screens  surrounding  the  branch  360  degrees.  Oh,
so  those  are  okay.  So  that's  where  it's  coming  through.  Yeah,  you  don't  see  infrared  because  it  is  invisible.  All  right.  So  those  don't  glow  or  anything  like  that.  That  just  the  heat  radiates  from  those.  Now  there's  two  heaters  in  the  front.
These  are  the  full  spectrum  here  and  there.  Okay.  Now  those  do  glow.  They  glow  red  and  that's  really  just  a  reminder  that  they're  hot.  Okay.  Okay.  So  in  addition  to  this  infrared  technology,
we  have,  because  they're  custom  made  for  us,  we  have  red  light  therapy  and  chromo  therapy  built  into  the  ceiling  of  every  sauna.  Now  the  red  light  therapy  bar  is  not  on,  but  I'm  going  to  open  the  door  and  step  in  and  turn  that  on.
Okay.  Red  light  therapy  is  good  for  chronic  pain,  inflammation,  building  collagen  and  elastin  in  your  skin  and  hair,  and  also  gives  you  energy  for  the  day.
This  is  the  chromo  therapy  bar.  It's  set  to  orange  right  now,  which  is  our  morning  energy  color,  but  there  are  six  colors  in  here.  Each  one  is  assigned  a  different  mood  enhancement  and  also  has  some  healing  properties  for  skin  and  nerves.
So  you  can  see  each  of  these  colors.  And  now  we  let  you  select  which  one  you  like  or  you  can  go  with  what  we  recommend.  So  in  the  morning  we  are  recommending  that  orange  light  and  I'll  turn  that  on  for  you.
But  if  you  ever  want  to  change  that,  we  have  a  lot  of  cheat  sheet  and  we  can  talk  about  that.  Yeah,  that's  over  there.  So  when  you  have  your  session,  you're  going  to  be  in  there  for  40  minutes.  I'm  going  around.  Ciders  show  people  some  more.
So  you're  going  to  have  a  40  minute  session  and  you're  going  to  have  the  towels  that  we  provide  for  you.  There  is  a  cold  eucalyptus  towel  on  the  tray  here.  Saw  that?  Fancy?  Okay.  So  you're  going  to  wipe  the  toxins  off  your  body  after  your  session  with  that  cold  eucalyptus  towel.
Dry  off  with  your  towels  and  get  dressed  and  come  on  back.  That's  really  the  process  here  at  First  Fire.  I  know  you're  not  going  to  believe  me,  but  I'm  just  telling  you,  I  feel  better.
I  feel  different.  I'm  really  curious  to  see  the  cumulative  effects  of  this  because  I'm  probably  going  to  wind  up  going  back  there  too.  And  if  you're  handicapped,  maybe  you  need  help  getting  in  there.  They  showed  me  spot  number  one  right  there.
Sauna  number  one  is  wheelchair  accessible  and  the  entire  team  there  is  amazing.  Again,  perspire,  this  infrared  idea  of  a  sauna,  something  I  never  knew  about.  And  I  could  feel  it  20  to  30  minutes  after  I  left  there  internally.

And  it's  true,  man.  I  got  it  up  to  160  degrees  in  there  and  I  could  feel  it  from  the  inside  out.  So  yeah,  I'm  going  back.  Ryan's  remedies,  man.  It's  pretty  damn  cool."

RYAN'S FINAL THOUGHTS:

I am so happy and proud of Big Jim giving this a try, I honestly think he was a little leary about some of the things I bring up and give a try, so this was great to see. I know he loved it and like he said he will be back for sure. Now it's time to get him in a float tank baby!!

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
