Michigan Woman Gets Stuck in Outhouse Toilet Retrieving Apple Watch

Losing a valuable item such as an Apple Watch is far from ideal. And the lengths one might go to recover it can sometimes be over-the-top. However, there exists a boundary that one must never cross. In Otsego County, a recent incident serves as a reminder of these boundaries. A woman found herself in a challenging situation when her attempt to retrieve her misplaced Apple Watch led her to become trapped inside an outhouse. This unusual event prompted law enforcement to issue a stern warning about climbing into outhouses.

The incident occurred on Tuesday around 11 a.m. at Dixon Lake, as reported in a statement by the Michigan State Police. According to the official statement, the woman found herself in distress, calling out for help. She explained to first responders that her Apple Watch had fallen into the toilet, and her attempt to retrieve it left her unable to get out.

In response to the distress call, a collaborative effort was launched involving conservation officers from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, troopers from the state police Gaylord Post, and emergency medical personnel from Otsego County. To get her out of the toilet trouble, they had to actually remove the toilet and use a strap to pull her out to safety.

Michigan State Police took this opportunity to emphasize the inherent dangers of entering an outhouse toilet, stating, "If you lose an item in an outhouse toilet, do not attempt to venture inside the containment area. Serious injury may occur."

Following the release of this incident report and accompanying photos on the Michigan State Police's X account, a wave of reactions flooded the comments section. Someone expressed their reluctance to ever wear the watch again. "I prob wouldn’t even want to wear my watch after it fell in there. And would need to remove my skin," they wrote. Others expressed curiosity about the woman's method of getting into the toilet, with one person saying, "idk if I’m stupid or what, but if the picture is of the toilet, how the hell did she get in there?? it looks small."
