We all love coffee right? The city of Detroit and surrounding areas have so many good coffee spots, so we better have made this list!

Someone researched the best American cities for coffee, and the top three are:  San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle.  And if you're fine with two-day-old gas station coffee, Toledo, Ohio ranks dead-last out of all 100 cities.

They compared 100 of the largest U.S. cities across 12 metrics, including the number of coffee shops and roasters . . . the amount of coffee drinkers . . . the average prices in the area . . . and local coffee-related events.

In the end, San Francisco came in FIRST, followed by Portland, Oregon . . . Seattle . . . Orlando . . . Honolulu . . . Tampa . . . Austin, Texas . . . Oakland . . . New Orleans . . . and Pittsburgh.

If you're fine with two-day-old gas station coffee, Toledo, Ohio came in dead-last out of the 100 cities they looked at.

Where is Detroit ranked you ask? You won't like it but, Detroit ranked as the 97th best city for coffee in the United States. Honestly, this isn't a great study for Detroit. Other categories Detroit ranked the lowest in was number of coffee makers in the house, and average spending on coffee per household. So, once again a list has Detroit ranking towards the end. Shocking I know!

Check out the entire study below:

Whether it's serving America's best coffee in San Francisco, or the worst in Toledo, there are some things ALL coffee shops have in common.  Like anything from today's list of the . . . Top 5 Things You Find at Every Coffee Shop.

A white woman with an overly complicated order.

An empty tip jar.

An out-of-work screenwriter working on something that will keep him out-of-work.

Baked goods that look like they've been on display for months.

Some guy showing off his crotch in cycling shorts.

A barista with those giant ear holes.

Someone buying the cheapest thing possible so they can get the bathroom code.

A foam machine that's a thousand times louder than it should be.

A bulletin board covered in flyers for dog sitters.

A weirdo in the corner playing chess by himself.

A homeless person passed out in the bathroom.

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
