A Canadian woman who mistakenly received an Amazon package in error is trying to get to the bottom of the problem before anyone gets the wrong idea about her.

A package showed up on Joelle Angleheart's doorstep, which surprised her because she wasn't expecting any deliveries. But she opened it up and was shocked to find more than 1000 condoms. She did not order them, and her shock turned to anger when she noticed that Amazon charged her credit card $495 for them. She said, "We received this box that contained 30 boxes of condoms that had 34 in each package, and we had no idea why they were sent to us. We really can't understand what took place and why we received the package at our house."

A cyber expert explained to her that she was likely the victim of a brushing scam, which is when Amazon vendors send items to random addresses so they can artificially inflate their reviews. Amazon opened an investigation and determined that the vendor was shipping items to random addresses in order to clear out unsold merchandise from Amazon fulfillment centers. At first, Amazon told her they could would not be able to refund her because condoms are a non-returnable item -- for good reason. But after some back and forth communications, the company relented and credited her card. (CTV News)

Hot Takes:

  • Does she have college-aged kids? Perhaps there's a perfectly good explanation for this.
  • So, she essentially just got 1000 free condoms.
  • She should pack it back up and ship it to Nick Cannon.
