Getting Sucker Punched At Family Dollar (Sort Of)
LAS VEGAS, NV - SEPTEMBER 02: Lollipops are displayed at 3940 Coffee + Tea at the opening of Delano Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip on September 2, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
An argument at a Family Dollar store in Florida led to a store manager getting sucker-punched — sort of.
Police say 24-year-old Dalton Reed was arrested for throwing a lollipop at the store manager. The incident took place at a store in Clearwater. Reed was standing in the checkout line and got into a “verbal argument” with the manager, David Johndrow. Things got a little heated and that’s when Reed grabbed the sucker and threw it, hitting Johndrow in the chest. Police noted in their report that the lollipop “did not cause bodily harm.” Reed was arrested and charged with simple battery, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia because he had a crack pipe in his pocket. Hot Takes:
- It’s said that a sucker is airborne every minute.
- It’s not clear what kind of lollipop it was. A Blow Pop or Tootsie Pop would likely cause more damage than a Dum Dum.
- It could have also been one of those giant swirly carnival lollipops that kids love but never get close to finishing.
