Lynyrd Skynyrd have not only changed their mind on the farewell tour being the end, they're not even ruling out a new album.

Singer Johnny Van Zant tells Goldmine, "We had all intentions of going in and making a record and doing it with [the late] Gary [Rossington]. But he got sick and so it just never happened. But there are songs out there that we could record in his honor. So who knows? We'll see what happens in the future."

Skynyrd last album was 2012's Last of a Dyin' Breed, and their last new song was "Last of the Street Survivors" in 2020.

Rossington, the last surviving founding member of the band, died this past March 5th.

Lynyrd Skynyrd are celebrating their 50th anniversary with a new box set.

FYFTY, a four-CD/digital collection, contains 50 career-spanning tracks, as well as live cuts from the 1987 tribute show that led to their reunion.

It also includes a live performance of “Gimme Three Steps” from their final show with co-founding guitarist and last surviving original member Gary Rossington on November 13th, 2022 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.

Also included is a 40-page booklet featuring opening notes from rock journalist, screenwriter and director Cameron Crowe, and unreleased photos of the original band as well as the reformed band.

It will be out on October 13th, seven days before the 46th anniversary -- October 20th, 1977 -- of the plane crash that claimed the lives of three band members.
