The 10 Highest-Grossing Rock Music Movies
The Freddie Mercury/Queen biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ was a massive box office success and a critical success receiving multiple Golden Globes and Academy Awards. The film won the Golden Globe for “Best Motion Picture - Drama,” while Rami Malek took home the “Best Actor - Motion Picture - Drama” Golden Globe for his portrayal of Mercury. Malek would also win the Oscar for Best Actor, while the film also picked up Oscar wins for Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Film Editing.
Loudwire put together a list of the highest-grossing movies that focus on rock music.
Here’s the Top 10, and the amount they made at the worldwide box office:
1. “Bohemian Rhapsody” (2018): $910.8 million
2. “Elvis” (2022): $288.7 million
3. “Rocketman” (2019): $195.3 million
4. “Wayne’s World” (1992): $183 million
5. “School of Rock” (2003): $131 million
6. “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America” (1996): $63.1 million
7. “Rock of Ages” (2012): $59.4 million
8. “Wayne’s World 2” (1993): $48.2 million
9. “High Fidelity” (2000): $47.1 million
10. “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” (1989): $40.5 million
