Biggest tourist traps … Anytime you travel to a city for the first time, you’re probably tempted to visit all the popular tourist sites – or, more precisely, tourist traps. In other words, you’re likely to spend a lot of money to see something that doesn’t quite live up to your expectations. Property-management company Casago and USA Today Blueprint recently conducted their own research to determine the biggest tourist traps in the country. They based their findings on reviews found on TripAdvisor and Google. Specifically, they looked for reviews containing words like “tourist trap,” “overrated,” and “expensive.” Here are some of the biggest tourist traps they came up with:
- Fisherman’s Wharf – San Francisco
- The Four Corners Monument – Arizona, Colorado, Utah and New Mexico
- Times Square – New York City
- Navy Pier – Chicago
- Hollywood Walk of Fame
- San Antonio River Walk
- Salem Witch Museum – Salem, Massachusetts
- Dole Plantation – Honolulu, Hawaii
You’ll notice that Detroit did NOT make this top ten. What places would you add to this list?
