Is there a trick to winning the powerball drawing? A way to increase your odds – especially now that it’s over $1.4 billion dollars for this Saturday.
The short answer. No. But we can give you some information that might help you pick your favorite numbers.
- Is is better to pick your own numbers or go with the quick pick? Here’s what the Multi-State Lottery Association said: “With the data available, roughly 80% of Powerball jackpot-winning tickets are quick picks. The reason the percentage is so high is because the majority of purchases are quick picks. If the majority of players selected their own numbers, we would expect to see a higher percentage of manual picks.”
- So what if you want to pick your own numbers – what are the most main numbers most drawn? Since 2015 the numbers include 61, 32, 63, 21 & 69 according to lottonumbers.com. Least drawn numbers? since 2015 include 35, 26, 13, 4 and 24. (more research here)
- Mix up even and odd numbers on your Powerball ticket. Only 3% of previous winning tickets have had all odd or all even numbers.
- I’ve read this a couple of places – experts says add up the five numbers you pick and try to stay within a target range between 140 and 240 after your five number are added together. More than half of the winning number combinations fall in that range. (this one is weird…but I’m going to try it)
- Experts said playing the same numbers repeatedly is all part of playing the game with smarts. According to Richard Lustig, a legendary lottery winner from Florida and author of “Learn How To “The problem with buying quick picks is every time you buy one, you get a different set of numbers. So your odds are always the same,”
- (Ryan Logan will love this one) Pick a “good” store to buy your Powerball ticket, especially one that’s had luck in the past selling winning tickets, is another tactic some players use to try and win the pot.
- Don’t use birthdays or anniversaries when picking powerball. It limits you to the numbers 1-31 and some think decreases odds.
