How Many Americans Say Pizza Is a Great Breakfast Food?
If you had leftover pizza for breakfast today, most of America is NOT judging you for it. A poll of 5,000 Americans found 69% think pizza is a solid breakfast option. Here are a few more stats from the poll . . .
1. The average American eats 180 slices of pizza a year. That’s just under 23 pizzas, or about two per month all on your own.
2. The average person eats pizza three times per month, and says they can take down five slices in one sitting, no problem.
3. 64% say pizza is the best food for movie nights . . . 57% say the same for graduation parties . . . and 25% would serve pizza at their wedding.
4. The average American’s “perfect” pizza is circular, not square . . . with thick crust . . . topped with cheese, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and parmesan. (The source also lists the “perfect” pizza in all 50 states. Only five states prefer square pizza: Georgia, Idaho, New York, Utah, and West Virginia.)
**wait…wait. Michigan isn’t on this list of square pizza preference? I thought we loved our Detroit Style Pizza? And what’s the deal with Utah and square pizza?**
5. Parmesan is also our favorite side. Red pepper flakes are next. And 30% like a side of ranch for dipping.
6. People were also asked to pick the worst possible toppings. AVOCADO ranked first, followed by mac-and-cheese, eggplant, pineapple, and fried chicken.
7. Final stat: One in six Americans prefer their leftover pizza cold. Every else would rather heat it up, or doesn’t really care.
