For the First Time, Cup Noodles Will Be Microwavable . . . Wait, What?
We weren’t supposed to microwave cup noodles? Wait what….WAIT WHAT?
Have you ever been so exhausted that all you can make for dinner is Cup Noodles? You know, just peel back the lid, fill the cup with water, and toss it in the microwave? If so, this will be alarming.
The maker of Cup Noodles, Nissin Foods, recently announced that they’re switching the packaging from polystyrene cups to PAPER cups next year, which will make Cup Noodles “microwavable for the first time since its introduction in 1973.
Some people online are saying, “Wait, what. We weren’t supposed to microwave cup noodles?” . . . because they’ve been microwaving the cups all along, despite the packaging saying that you ADD boiling water. The current polystyrene cup is NOT microwavable.
The reactions online include, “What do you mean ‘for the first time’?” . . . “I’ve been microwaving these bad boys since ’95” . . . “Why would we be filling it up to the line if we’re not microwaving?” . . . “Is it bad if we were microwaving the old package?” . . . “Is this why we all have cancer?”
And this gem: “Every day I find out I spent my whole childhood doing random, irreparable damage to my tiny body.” (???)
