New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Started With Chit!
New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Started With Chit!
It was the perfect time to end a year off with a New Year’s Rockin’ Eve
“CHIT” has been my local cover band for 10 years. We’ve been all over the Motor City in local bars and even the main stage at local festivals like Arts, Beats & Eats warming up for national acts like Cheap Trick, Guess Who & even Salt & Peppa. I, Screamin’ Scott, am the alleged lead singer, cowbell player, and lead triangle player for the band.
The local venue the Lucky Leprechaun in Roseville was the spot for our debauchery of ringing in the New Year of 2024. Great new venue for local bands and is located right across the street from the Macomb Mall. The Irish theme bar was perfect for the crowd that night.
It was CHIT’s last stop on our second farewell tour in 2023. The band in 2023 racked up over 50 shows and many benefit concerts for a variety of community causes. Including a very successful Rock 4 Tots appearance.
The Countdown To Ring In The New Year!
The night started well. Myself and the other band members loaded in after 4 pm… Erik Blundell and I were the first to arrive. Don’t believe the folklore that the lead singers don’t move any gear from the band. It’s not true at all as I have more than just a mic stand and mic. Guitar slinger Jack Riot loaded in and next to arrive was my bass player, Michael Sheehan, who joined CHIT this past year. Then Jimi Boom Boom Bowman our Viking drummer god was ready to rock.
The doors opened at 7’Oclock and it was great to see new faces in the crowd along with our die-hard Chit fans known as, “Chitheads”. We even had fans from our Eastside shows who made the venture! After the pre-concert beverage hour, our band took to the stage. There was a full house of people who rocked with us all night long throughout our 3 long sets which has close to 50 songs to make up a full Chit show.
Our second set concluded around 11:40 to give everyone time to get ready for the countdown to New Year’s Eve. 2023 is not a total bummer. Had some incredible shows and added some fun songs to the setlist.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Bar went crazy with a roar of relief that it was out with the old and in with the new. Even was treated by Tony DeJesus, manager of the Lucky Leprechaun grabbed a bottle of bubbly champagne for the band. The audience had something special coming to them next.
Chit Debut Their Original Song Live For The 1St Time Ever
I wrote a song a few years ago because I noticed a lack of a rocking song about New Year’s Eve. Too many New Year’s Eve songs are sappy love songs. So with help from my manager Jennifer Powers and Jack Riot came up with, “Everybody’s Rockin’ It’s New Year’s Eve.” The song went over pretty well with a few rough year spots as we only practiced it just before we started our show during soundcheck.
Here’s the video we made on the song we recorded at the Screamin Ranch. Included is video and photos of Chit shows over the years and Chithead fans everywhere.
. The Band Chit has already booked more shows there on this tour. Thanks to all who came out for our last show on the tour for the almost greatest band around!
